Differences between Sonali (GOTY 2009) and MAG #47

Last night, I went over to my friend Nicole(IndigoAG)'s house. She has MAG #47, who has the same face mold, skin color, eye color and hair color as my Sonali doll. We figured that they would be complete twins, but when we actually stood them up next to each other, we realized how different they look! Since Sonali is an older doll (I got her in the beginning of 2010, where as Nicole's doll is brand new) so her skin has a grey tint to it. I never realized it until I stood her up next to the new doll, but now it scares me! Im worried that large amounts of sun exposure have bleached her skin over time- I have spent hours at a time filming in direct sunlight. I guess stop-motioning takes a toll on my dolls' skin!

Other than age related differences, the dolls are pretty much the same. The only real difference is the hair. #47's hair is layered, and VERY straight. Its so silky, its hard to put into a hairstyle. It took me a while to wrestle her hair into a braid. Sonali's hair is longer, and its slightly wavy/textured. It's much easier to style!

Here are a few photos for comparison. (Outfit credits to Nicole!)

  10. Don't worry, Anna! The skin color comes with age. If you put my Chrissa doll (GOTY 2009) next to my Saige doll (GOTY 2013) you can see that Chrissa's is more "yellow", And I have never taken Chrissa outside!

  11. I found out an easy way to clean your doll's skin. All you have to do is use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It works so well. I used it on my doll and it made her skin look like new!

  16. There was times when AG dolls had grayish and greenish skin tones directly from the store. You might just be unlucky and have gotten one of them. Both dolls are anyhow very pretty! I think Nali's skin tone makes her look more special, rather than gray!

The story behind it all....

In September of 2009, a pre-teen girl named Anna was searching youtube. She no longer used her american girl dolls. they were behind the closet doors, gathering dust. She reluctantly glanced over, then began to type in the search bar: American Girl Dolls. A video came up. She clicked on it. 14 coustumed dolls slid onto the screen and began to dance together, waving their arms and doing cartwheels. Anna was shocked. How could this be possible? This was.... Amazing. She quickly searched a few more. There were hudreds of videos, by usernames like stephenswodadancer, AGlovejess and girloftheyearstudios. Anna couldn't believe it. This new discovery was incredible! She ran to her room and pulled out her two dolls, felicity and samantha. She grabbed her camera. And, she began to film.

It is now four years later. I work on videos almost everyday, usually stopmotions. I have gathered quite a few veiws and subscribers on youtube, and I really appriciate when people comment on my videos. I have come unbelievibly far, but I still leave up those first videos from two years ago, because for me, those are the memories that I will always treasure. I am so happy that I can share them with you.
