Im going to University!

Well, the time has come. The time that I have been ruminating in my head for years, since I started AGtube back in 2009. All the hours of school work and the stress of achieving good grades has finally paid off. Im going to college!

It's an exciting time for sure, filled with choosing classes and shopping for my dorm. But it's also a very sentimental time, because I am moving away from home. I have lived under the same roof with my family for my whole life, but now, I am going to take on the world solo.
Soon, my home will become nothing more than my childhood house, my friends will become memories, my relationship with my parents will change completely. Few things will remain constant. And that's scary.

But change is natural. And it's something Im learning to embrace. Going to University is scary, because everything is new--but that is also the reason it's exciting!

I don't know what Im going to study yet; I have way too many interests. But Im planning to focus in sciences and social sciences. I might do a double-major, to accommodate all my interests. Outside of classes, I plan on joining the runners club, an accapella group, and maybe even a sorority. But for the first year, I am living in the freshman dorms with my roommate, who is also an international student (she's from South Korea!).

I am unbelievably excited to experience college life. It will be fun, for sure--living with thousands of people my age.

Still, these last few days have been filled with goodbyes. I said goodbye to my father on Sunday, because he was leaving for a business trip. I cried incessantly because there is something so poignant about a dad saying goodbye to his baby girl. Then, last night, I said goodbye to my boyfriend, and cried some more. This morning, I said goodbye to my best friend as she left for college, but for some reason, I didn't cry--I felt a strong sense of excitement for her. We have been best friends for 11 years, so I know our friendship won't change much. With my dad, and my boyfriend, it was different, because our relationships will change drastically in the coming months.

And now, I am faced with another goodbye--to basilmentos. This is not the end, but its definitely a new chapter. I am moving forward, becoming an adult, and leaving so many things behind (dolls included).

Still, I refuse to let go of something that makes me so happy. Even if I can't make videos frequently, basilmentos will continue--it is my pride and joy, and keeps me smiling every day. When I come home on breaks, I will make videos, and I will probably check in with you guys through instagram or blogger every once in a while, even while Im at school.

So, you will be seeing a lot less of me. But this is not the end, it's just a new chapter.

I would like to end this blog post with a huge thank you for your support. I have been on youtube for 6 years now, and the response to my videos has been incredibly positive. You always make me feel good about myself and you inspire me every day. I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for you.

In fact, your support through youtube has afforded me this opportunity to go to college. After a very successful interview where I discussed my youtube career, the university offered me a great scholarship. I plan to buy textbooks, dorm supplies and food using my google adsense money. So, you guys are helping to pay my way through university!

Still, monetary issues pale in comparison to the love you have shown me. AGtube is such a beautiful, supportive place. Whenever I feel down, I can read comments or fan emails and my day instantly becomes brighter. You guys have always made me feel at home and appreciated, and for that, I am forever grateful. No matter what happens in these next few years, I will never forget your generosity.

Alright, here we go! Time to take on the world.

When I watched this video, I burst into tears. It wasn't only because I'm going to miss you more than almost anything else, but also because I am incredibly proud of you. :') You have been on YouTube for six years, and haven't failed to impress me once. I watch all your videos and each and every one of them has inspired me to make videos of my own! :D I am here to say thank you. Thank you Anna basilmentos for teaching me to be someone like I've always dreamed of being like. Thank you for making me laugh, inspiring me, and helping me understand more about filming and video making than I ever thought I would know. I can't...I can't even start to explain how much you've done for me in the past few years, just by watching your videos. I knew this time would eventually come. You are growing up and going to school to live out your dreams that you are making come true. Education is a blessing, and I'm so happy that you realize that, as not many people sometimes do. I support you in everything. So, I'll see you next time. Not- goodbye, basilmentos! :D :')

  7. Not seeing videos for 4 years. I know what that is like. I have a friend named Sydney. We met during preschool when we we're put as tablemates. Soon, I found out she moved to the other side of the country. We were friends for 5 years now, Typing this and thinking of my old friend is starting to make me cry, but somehow, I feel proud of sharing this to you.

But I know you will have a fabulous time in collage! I'm so excited for you. :) This is not goodbye…just…see you later. :3

Also, it would mean the world to me if you watched my latest video. It is dedicated to you, as a little "going-away" present.

  14. Congratulations! Stepping out into new realms! It is exciting and frightening. While some of your home friendships will change others will not and they will grow stronger. Half of my best friends are from high school the other half are from college. They are the ones who embrace me for who I am with all my goofy thoughts and unique hobbies. I know that you'll find a similar group as you grow.

Thank you for all your hard work over the years with your posts and videos. Keep in mind there are many, many adult doll bloggers and YouTubers out there. ;-D

Enjoy all your new experiences and know that in times of stress your fans and friends are still here for you and will hear you.

  19. Oh, Anna! Best of luck to you in University. We're all standing behind you, we who sit behind our screens in our own worlds. We've all journeyed with you. But you know what? I think you'll do just fine. I don't think you're one of those people who can't balance their priorities, can't take charge of their future, can't write their own stories. I can't wait to see what an amazing woman like you will do for this world.
And I watched your video. We have the same calculator :)

  20. Anna congratz on college!
I'm going to miss you so so much because your videos are beautiful and interesting and I like that even though you're going to college you still love making AG Vids. I am so sad that your vids will not be coming out often, but I'm here wishing you luck in University and I hope you enjoy these next few years!
It honestly mean so much to me that you're leaving behind everything, and I am crying, which you can't tell because of this screen in front of my face.
I would say "Goodbye and good luck," but as you said it's not goodbye so. . .see you later. :)
And we have the same name xD

  21. Congratulations Anna! I'm so happy for you. Even though you probably won't read this, I want to say thank you. Your videos were the first AG Youtube videos I ever saw, and they got my re-interested in my dolls and inspired me to start my Youtube channel. If I hadn't found your channel, I probably would have never been inspired enough to start my own Youtube channel, and I most likely would have never even known that there is an AG community on Instagram. When I did start my Youtube channel, every time I saw one of your videos in my subscription box, it would make my day and leave me feeling inspired to get off my computer and make a stop motion. Even though you won't be posting nearly as much as before, I know I will still watch your videos when I am lacking inspiration or just bored. I would normally say goodbye, but since you aren't leaving, I wish you luck in college and I'll see you later.

  24. Anna-Basilmentos, you have been my overall favorite on AGTube. It is sad to see you not have any time for doll videos anymore (but I understand). In life, nothing lasts forever. We all have to grow up and do big kid things. Reading this post made me sad because this year I entered high school and I know the next four years will be over in the blink of an eye and I will have to grow up sometime. I wish you the best of luck at University. God bless!

  31. Good luck, Anna! I've been watching your videos since 2011 and you have been a huge factor in the dynamic of my collecting. You are probably having the time of your life already in University! You said it was halfway across the continent, so maybe it's the university I'm considering as well. I hope your studies are going well and your workload isn't too extreme, but also that you're happy where you are; heaven knows that after all of your hard work you deserve the best time imaginable.
Thank you so much for being your truly amazing self and have a blast during the most important years of your life!

  32. Congrats!!! I will be leaving for college in a few years as well. To be honest, I'm scared. But I'm worried about driving right now. And I don't really have to worry about leaving quite yet. If you can be this successful on YouTube then I believe that you will be very successful at college. Anna, you have inspired me. You are the reason I started my channel. It's been about a year and a half and I have 79 amazing subscribers. (One being my brother) :p. So thank you. I will continue to support you and even watch and rewatch some of your old videos. Thank you. Remember we are always here for you. :)

  33. Dear Anna,
I just wanted to wish you luck on going to college! You've inspire me to acheive my goal on many diffrent things. In 2010 i began my acting career, and did commercials and tv!The only thing is that im a little bit taller than most of the kids in the acting buisness! When the oppertunity came up at an audition for Dream Street the Musical. I was very streesed out. Until I watched your video's. I forgot about all my stress and just went for it. A few months after, I got the lead, and had to go to New York for 4 months and live with another girl in the show and leave my family for a while. It was the hardest thing that I have ever done. Then I got my first ag doll and named it Diana, my moms name. After a while I came across your doll account and started watching all your videos. Before shows, during intermission, and after shows. My cast mates would squeeze into my dressing room, to watch our favorite video, the science fair video. Thanks for all the insperation. With out your videos I wouldn't be where I am. Thank You! Abigail Paige Murphy :)

  34. You are in your second semester now and I hope it has been going well. Just discovered your youtube videos. I watch them on my ipad at the gym - blown away how well done and clever they are. Never doubt yourself. You had the ingredients to accomplish whatever you set out to do. Note: I am a new adult AG collector.
